In addition to academics, vocational skills training classes, and internships are very important aspects of the GROW curriculum. Connecting students to meaningful work experiences through both on-campus and community internships provides them with the tools they need to build their skills and prepare for employment upon graduation.
Riverview School works with 21+ community business partners to provide students with firsthand vocational experiences. This helps students to develop good work habits and an increased awareness of their personal strengths and interests.
First-year students explore different career pathways through experiential learning in community internships and on-campus work practicums. The focus is on building foundations and transferable skills.
Second and third-year students receive job training in community-based internships in their area of interest and ability.
Many Riverview students benefit from participating in Project SEARCH, a world-renowned transition-to-work program. The unique, business-led, one-year employment training and preparation program with Cape Cod Healthcare and Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital offers total workplace immersion and facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through worksite rotations.
